3rd International Cinema Symposium

06 – 10 Nov

Near East University, Nicosia

Dear Colleagues,

The 3rd International Cinema Symposium will be held in Nicosia, the capital city of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, face-to-face and online (HYBRID) on 06 - 10 Nov this year.

We are happy and honored to invite you to the 3rd International Cinema Symposium (usc2023), which will be held as a hybrid symposium in the TRNC.

In the past years, dozens of universities from 15 different countries have supported our symposiums as stakeholders, as well as many colleagues and artists, who are recognized as important names in their fields and significantly contributed to our studies in different fields. As a result of the 1st and 2nd Cinema Symposiums held so far, four different abstract and full text proceedings have been published. Academicians who wanted to evaluate their work as an article were able to complete the necessary referee processes and have their work published in our Journal of Social Sciences and Art Research published on DergiPark. (https://dergipark.org.tr/tr/pub/issar)

The 3rd International Cinema Symposium is carried out by committees consisting of prominent and competent colleagues from major Cinema-Film schools and communication faculties. As in the previous two symposiums, this year esteemed colleagues have undertaken duties on voluntary basis in the Scientific Committee, the Executive Committee and the Organizing Committees.

The 3rd International Cinema Symposium continues to progress. This year again, in addition to the partnership of TRNC Presidency, TRNC Assembly, TR Ministry of Culture and Tourism General Directorate of Cinema, TRNC Ministry of Culture and Tourism Culture Department, Turkish World Culture, Art and Cinema Foundation, Communication Research Center (ILAD), IKSAD, the symposium is also supported by the leading universities of 10 different Turkish Republics, TRNC, Turkey and the World.

The 3rd International Cinema Symposium aims to open the concepts of "CULTURE - IDENTITY - IDEOLOGY", which are the most discussed topics in our rapidly changing world, to academic and artistic discussion on the axis of cinema.

THE 3rd INTERNATIONAL CINEMA SYMPOSIUM RESPONSES THE CONCEPTS OF “CULTURE – IDENTITY – IDEOLOGY”:

The function of ideology as a mental orientation tool in determining culture and identity is affected by the rapid development of technology as well as by the differing economic and social variables. This rapid movement of our world makes it remain in the focus of discussions in the aforementioned concepts.

Our aim with the 3rd International Cinema Symposium is to ensure that the topics opened for discussion are discussed not only in cinema and art, but also by other disciplines that are related to cinema.

Thus, we believe that academicians from different disciplines will develop new perspectives on the topics with an interdisciplinary approach.
